Source-Difference-Based Mapping Improves Spatial Modulation

A new multi-antenna transmission scheme, referred to as difference-based spatial modulation (DBSM), is proposed enhance the reliability of (SM). With DBSM, a pair amplitude/phase-shift keying (APSK) symbols are conveyed by each channel-use, but only one them radiated from single transmit antenna. In contrast conventional SM, DBSM selects active antenna based on difference between two rather than them. The design principle APSK constellation in detailed, which guarantees that mean Euclidean distance any signals mapped complementary bit-sequences largest possible among all candidates. this way, improves error performance even though they have same achievable data rate given system configuration. We demonstrate channel coding techniques, e.g., convolutional and turbo codes, will gain achieved over SM. Both theoretical analysis simulation results provided substantiate advantages our scheme.
